Celebrate Tucson with David Gilmore and Namoli Brennet

Conrad Wilde Gallery announces a homecoming celebration for two local artists: singer songwriter Namoli Brennet and writer David Gilmore. Brennet returns from her national tour to perform selections from her new album Singer Shine Your Light. Gilmore returns to Tucson to read selections from his recently-released book HomoSteading at the 19th Parallel.

Four-time Outmusic award nominee Brennet has been touring the country relentlessly since 2002, covering over 25,000 miles and 43 states over the past 5 years. Brennet's aching and edgy voice tells each story with captivating depth. While her music can be deep, dark and moving, she surprises with between-song antics that rival any stand-up comedian. Her music has been called, "transcending folk," and she puts herself somewhere between Patty Griffin, Margaret Cho, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Writer Gilmore left Tucson in 2005 to build his dream house on the Big Island of Hawaii in 2005. In 2006, he came full circle and returned home to settle in Tucson. His critically acclaimed book is a poignant and hilarious love affair with “home.” Gilmore is a NEA grantee and winner of the Edward R. Murrow award for his radio show Outright Radio, which was featured on Public Radio International.
