Off the Wall: Encaustic in 3-D

Texture! One of the intrinsic qualities of the medium is sparking an exciting new aesthetic. Artists are exploring relief-based works on panel, hybrids of both painting and sculpture. Some have abandoned the panel altogether and are creating sculptural works made of entirely of encaustic and/or incorporating mixed media and found objects. This hands-on workshop will cover the technical fundamentals for creating innovative three-dimensional works in encaustic. We will also discuss additional considerations for packing, shipping, photographing, presenting, installing and exhibiting 3-D works.

Heated palettes and fusing tools will be provided. Enrollment is limited to 15.
