Tim Mosman - Artist Statement

I start each piece sitting with a blank piece of paper contemplating my first move. Once that move is made, I respond to it with additional marks, gestures, colors, erasures, what I will call “process.” I attempt to engage all of my ability to focus on each move I make exactly while I’m making it. As I proceed, maintaining and continuing to sharpen the focus, I build the structure of the work out of the process.

My friend and teacher, David Dunlap, used to say two things to me. ‘Trust your eyeball’ and, ‘follow your nose.’
